Elves are pregnant on average about 26 months. Halflings, on the other hand, are pregnant around 8 months. Neither of them has ever had a half-elf child, nor have they known anyone who has. So they’re in for some excitement.

Sancho: (smiles and puts a hand on her belly) So ‘ow is mah wee lass, then?

Bea: (pointedly) He is either kicking up a real storm or some monster’s going to burst out of my stomach.

Bea: Isn’t too early for this? I don’t remember my others being active at all until I was maybe eight months gone.

Sancho: She’s a mortal lass. Mebbe they dinnae take sae lang.

[She’s a mortal girl. Maybe they don’t take so long.]

Bea: Son of a bitch! Is that how this works?! How much time do I have left?! What if he’s born before we’re through?!

Sancho: I dinnae ken ‘ow this works. I dinnae remember how long Jes were pregnant fer.

[I don’t know how this works. I don’t remember how long Jez was pregnant for.]

Bea: Tell me about Hez.

Sancho: Ye dinnae wannae ken about Jesea Reyes. She were an evil bitch.

[You don’t want to know about Jesea Reyes. She was an evil bitch.]

Sancho: Yer nae evil. Just a pain in the arse. And a complete fooking nutter.
